A letter to my High School self

You know those butterflies you have in your stomach right now....it's normal. Trust me they will soon stop fluttering away.

Look at you though, you look amazing in your new uniform. Those pens you picked out that are neatly tucked in your new pencil case will become your favourite, that lovely new A4 pad of paper will get you through every lesson & through the rest of your life for every bit of writing you ever do.

You'll gonna love English & you'll hate Maths...but give it your best shot anyway, yes it may bore you but you'll be thankful for it when it comes to having your own family in the future.

There will be lots of walking to your lessons, you'll get to know your way round the school pretty quickly, you'll also have friends you'll sit with in every lesson & yes there will come a time when in certain lessons you won't pay attention or you'll be trying to sneak text messages to your mates in other classes about meeting up at lunch or after school.

Yes you will get grounded for getting caught doing naughty things, you'll try to push boundaries & you will think you can't do certain things. Trust me you'll be able to do everything even just once.

You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll shout & you'll sit there quietly. You'll have boyfriends, you'll have your heart broken & break hearts too. You'll grow up way quicker than you should.

You will get to experience a lot of things....things you like, things you hate. You will cut into an eyeball which makes you feel yuk inside but you'll learn from it.

Kids will be nasty, kids will hate on you but let them. Ignore them & they will soon get bored. Honestly they are just filling their time trying to be cool. In fact in the end you'll all be hanging out laughing & enjoy the good times together.

When high school is all over you'll walk off from it all. Remember it as an experience. Remember it as a time you needed to go through to get to where you want to be. Remember it as a learning curve.

You will get through that first day & the days after that. You'll get through the first week & the weeks after that. You'll get through the first year & the years after that. You will go over bumps in the road but they will all add to the learning & experience.

It will give you the confidence & power to know what you want & what you don't want. Always be you, don't try & be anyone else...I promise it's not cool & it doesn't look good. You'll want to fit in for sure but fit in whilst staying true to who you are.

Most of all have fun when you can, laugh, smile, enjoy it all & continue to link arms with those true friends.
