A letter to my High School self

Image
You know those butterflies you have in your stomach right now....it's normal. Trust me they will soon stop fluttering away.  Look at you though, you look amazing in your new uniform. Those pens you picked out that are neatly tucked in your new pencil case will become your favourite, that lovely new A4 pad of paper will get you through every lesson & through the rest of your life for every bit of writing you ever do.  You'll gonna love English & you'll hate Maths...but give it your best shot anyway, yes it may bore you but you'll be thankful for it when it comes to having your own family in the future.  There will be lots of walking to your lessons, you'll get to know your way round the school pretty quickly, you'll also have friends you'll sit with in every lesson & yes there will come a time when in certain lessons you won't pay attention or you'll be trying to sneak text messages to your mates in other classes about meeting ...

Time GBE 2

Time is precious to us all. Sometimes we can forget just how fast time goes by, it doesn't matter if we are trying to slow down our lives, live in the moment, take some time off from work. Time still fly's by in a blink.  Think about how quickly this year has gone for you? We are only four months away from it being Christmas! That to me is crazy...I mean seriously where has the year gone?  Time for me means I'm getting older, my boys are growing up faster than I would have liked and that some people who I thought would be around forever are no longer here.  That's what sucks about time. When is our time up? Do you think some of us know when that time comes and that's it for us? I actually sit sometimes thinking about this, I wonder what my boys will be like as they get older, what their families will be like as they continue to grow on for generations, I wonder what the world will be like and if a genius will solve all the problems and issues around the world to sav...

Loss GBE 1

Image
Loss can mean so many different things to different people. Most people will conjure up a memory of a lost one...either a family member, a friend or even a beloved pet. It may strike up a memory of something that a person may have lost that either has value or sentimental value. It could even take you back to a time you lost your way on a journey or through life. Maybe you lost yourself.  For me, when I saw this prompt, it brought back 2 totally different memories at the same time which is quite odd but I can kinda see why they instantly popped into my mind.  I'm going to concentrate on the first memory that popped into my mind relating to how I had lost myself over the years. I think it stems from reigniting the GBE group & remembering how I would write every day & talk to everyone involved several times a day for hours.  Then I met my ex & that was that. He was very controlling & I had those rose tinted glasses on. He made me delete everything....literal...

GBE Reunited

The familiar buzz on my wrist alerted me to a new notification. I looked at it and smiled. I began to read the message right there on my Fitbit and my pulse started to race, the smile spreading wider on my face.  I knew my answer straight away as I reached for my phone and opened the message fully.  It was all coming back to me in my mind - the days and nights spent writing and reading, forming amazing friendships around the written words on our blogs. The group space we had on MySpace (oh yes we are talking many years ago). All of it igniting my passion for writing and helping me grow in confidence as I learned how to hone in on the writer skills we all taught each other.  GBE was the place to be if you loved writing and blogging.  The message on my screen drew me in. After nearly 20 years GBE was coming back, the original "squad" was back in our favourite place and I was being invited to be part of it, to go back to where I first found my passion of writing, the on...
